Travel Journal - Day 5

Gotcha!!!!

Dustin and Jonah we have your sister!!! We got her at 4:00 Chinese time, 3:00 in the morning your time. After we arrived in Nanchang, we had 45 minutes to get our documents in order before picking up Taya. But, grandpa caught them bringing in the girls before we were to see them. So, we found the room they were waiting in and all of us tried to figure out which baby was theirs. Amy said Taya’s Chinese name, Jin Ai Niu, and they all pointed to a tiny little girl at the end of the table. She was content in her nannies arms, and was reaching towards the door with her hands. We couldn’t get the babies right away, but had to go in the room next door and wait for the man from Civil Affairs to arrive. While we waited, our province guide Mary handed out Chinese formula for us to use. Then the time was here to get the babies. We were family number 8 of 12. They called her name and she came right to Amy, and then she realized she was with a stranger with blond hair!! Then Taya started to cry and cry and cry and cry some more. She arrived in Amy’s arms with split pants and 5 layers of clothes. After getting her back to the room we peeled off the layers of cloths and changed her into clean clothes. She did not stop crying throughout this whole process. We started to feed her a bottle and she quieted down while eating, but then started crying again. We went down for more paperwork, and it was quite comical to see all the girls crying away. Taya was fine while walking to the meeting, however as soon as she saw and heard all of the other babies crying she started in crying too. Once all the paperwork was done, we were able to head back to the room and let her finish her bottle. We put her in the front carrier and headed to the business center to type this letter. Taya is exhausted and we are heading to bed also. Talk with you tomorrow.

Dustin and Jonah,

Taya has the most beautiful almond shaped eye, and they are the darkest brown you can imagine. She has very long delicate fingers and she is a little peanut and nine month clothes are a bit to big for her. She is adorable and we can wait for you to meet her. She won’t look at Grandpa and Grandma!! It will take some time for her to warm up to them. Jonah, we couldn’t put Taya in the pink outfit we promised because she was so upset. We had to grab the first thing we could find. We will get it on her soon!! (: Yes, they did cut here hair short, but she still as cute as can be. We love you and miss you much.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus

Not flesh of my flesh

Nor bone of my bone

But still miraculously my own

Never forget

for a single minute

You didn’t grow

under my heart

But in it

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father!
