Travel Journal - Day 13
Hello from Albuquerque! We made it home with no problems today. We have
been up for over 30 hours with just a couple hours of nap time. We traveled
for 23 hours and we had two Wednesdays. I can honestly say that this is
going to be a long week!
He flew from Guangzhou to Hong Kong with several other families. >From
there we all went our separate ways. Lani’s little friend Caleb and his
family left an hour before us and we all cried when we had to separate the
two children. We then flew to San Francisco where Grandpa and Grandma Goff
where waiting. Out of our four hour lay over; we only got to spend about an
hour with them. We were so thankful to have them there to meet Lani and say
hi to us. Oh yeah, we had that little thing where Elaine became an official
USA citizen! Several of the airline attendants waited for us to go through
immigration/customs and they all clapped and a couple of ladies were crying.
They also took some pictures of our family outside of customs. (Mike had the
camera ready to go but they quickly told him to put it away; no pictures
allowed of Home Land Security Officers!
Then we were off to Abq. My parents, our neighbors and some friends were
there to greet us with signs, balloons and toys. What a welcome! It was so
emotional to finally be back home with our little blessing. We got home and
our sweet neighbor and my dear friend, Schea, had planted new flowers and
plants in our flower pots and we had signs on the front door and inside the
house! My mom cooked dinner for us and our friend, Tracy, gave us Rudy’s
BBQ for tomorrow! Several neighbors stopped by to see the newest Goff! I am
already spoiled not to mention little Lani. Of course there were many gifts
for her also! Thank you everyone for making this day so special.
We got home and it was like Elaine knew that this was a safe place where
she belonged. She has rarely let me out of her sight and tonight she was
running from room to room and even sat in the playroom by herself and played
with her doll house. She would chase the girls and tackle them. She ate
dinner and smiled at all of us. She didn’t care for our dog but he is
rather crazy! She let Mom give her a bath and dress her. It took me a couple
of times to get her down but she is sound asleep in her own bed! What a
sweetie!
We are tired beyond belief but thrilled beyond belief!
The Goff Gang – all official USA citizens!
