THE QUILT IS COMPLETE! Thank
you to all who added your good wishes to this treasure for Kya. Please check out
additional pictures of the
completed quilt on the Quilt link in our photos section.
History
of the 100 Good Wishes Quilt In China there is a tradition
to create a 100 Good Wishes Quilt for the newborn child.
Friends and Family will provide pieces of cloth along with a prayer,
note or wish for the new child. A piece of the cloth is also
attached to the note allowing the child to identify who gave her
each of the materials in the quilt. This
project has become very popular in the Chinese Adoption
community. Many of us adoptive parents are swapping material
and Good Wishes for our children. We also asked friends and
family to contribute to the quilt as well. Those
that contributed, sent us (2) 5x5 pieces of
material. They were either the same or different material, new or used.
And, a separate, small piece of the material(s) was attached to a
printed note or prayer -- Each
Good Wish was created unique and individually. We
made the quilt in March
2004 and posted pictures as the project progressed. The
notes and prayers that were sent were be placed in a scrapbook for Kya
to treasure for years.
