  • WE'RE NEXT! WE'RE NEXT! WE'RE NEXT! In adoption lingo we are ON DECK! The last batch of referrals was received at our agency on July 30th and included everyone DTC (dossier to China) December, January and most of February. Our group, group 161, is the very next group in line for referrals.  We should be getting "the call" any day now from our agency.

  • Kya's room is ready! You can see pictures of her room in the photos section of this website.

  • Thank you to Ann, Nancy & my Mother for the wonderful Baby Shower they gave me on August 28th. And, thank you to everyone who attended and gave such wonderful gifts for our daughter. There were tons of China themed decorations and scrumptious homemade Chinese food. 

  • The quilt is complete! Thank you to everyone who sent material for this treasure for Kya. You can also see pictures of this beautiful work of art on the photo page of this website.

March/April Updates

• March/April 2004

  • Our dossier (adoption request) was logged at the Chinese Center of Adoption Affairs on February 27, 2004.

  • Currently, we are expecting our referral in either September or October.  There are 4 more batches of referral groups before us.  We are hoping the next batch comes in May then we will likely receive our referral in September this year and Kya could be home before Thanksgiving this year!

  • We are busy doing all the things you would normally do.  Researching the prepaid college plans, Pediatrician's, Day Care, getting the house ready & just spending some last months alone together & dreaming of that exciting trip to China and our baby girl.  We spend large sums of time communicating with other Christians adopting through our same agency.  We have grown in our faith and gained so many new friends.  Several of them, we know for sure will be traveling with us.  I'm sure once we start posting our China photos you will become quickly familiar with them.

February Updates

 

• On February 20, 2004, after almost 5 months of paper-chasing, our paperwork (Dossier) left for China!  Just saying this bring tears.  It has been such an emotional process.  We are so thrilled and so amazed by God's grace.  He has given us the Child we prayed so hard and so long for.

• Our next step:  On February 23, 2004, the China Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) received our dossier via Federal Express.  This does not mean they process our paperwork  right away.  It can take them 1 to 3 weeks to get to "our dossier" depending on how busy they are.  Once they process our dossier, we will receive our official "Log In Date" (LID).  From that point on, we can expect a 6 to 9 month wait the referral of a child.  The current wait is about 8 months.

• The CCAA is currently processing the dossiers received last June and rumors are that they are processing July as well.  If this is true, then we will have a 7 month wait instead.  But, the process depends on so many things that we must always be patient and resilient.

Prayer Requests (UPDATED 5/2/04)

• Kya:

  • Please pray the Nannies take good care of her and lover her until we can reach her.  

  • SARs, measles and chicken pox are some of the infections and diseases reported in the past few weeks.  Please keep these in your prayers and that they are contained quickly.  

  • There has also been a recent issue of bad formula circulating the China market. Babies are dying within 48hrs once consuming this product.
